Origine et rénovation du musée
Ancien maquisard du Vercors, Joseph La Picirella crée en 1973 un musée de la « première génération » conçu sans muséographe, ni fonds publics.
Soucieux de témoigner de l’histoire du maquis, il collectionne pendant de nombreuses années objets de la vie quotidienne civile et militaire, archives, photographies, peintures de la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
En 1999, le Département de la Drôme acquiert le musée puis le rénove en 2010 afin d’améliorer l’accueil et la présentation des collections grâce à une présentation pédagogique et vivante. Le musée propose désormais des activités culturelles et pédagogiques tout au long de l’année.
Joseph La Picirella, who took part in the Vercors resistance, created the « first generation » of the museum in 1973 without a museographer or public funding. Because he wanted to bear witness to the history of the resistance movement, he gradually built a collection consisting of many civil and military objects and artefacts, including archives, photos and paintings of the Second World War.
Bought by the Drôme Department in 1999, the museum was renovated in 2010 to improve the reception area and make the presentation of the collections more attractive and informative. The museum will now be able to propose cultural and educational activities throughout the year.
Entre souvenir et histoire
Le parcours muséographique croise l’histoire renouvelée du maquis du Vercors et les témoignages du fondateur du musée. Des objets d’époque, des armes, des documents d’archives, des photographies originales et également des bornes tactiles jalonnent ce parcours en trois thèmes :
Le Vercors avant le Vercors retrace l’histoire du Vercors au tournant du siècle, le contexte historique des années 1918-1942 au niveau national et international.
Le maquis du Vercors raconte l’organisation de ce « maquis refuge », l’évolution de son rôle, la création de la « République du Vercors », les combats du Vercors, la fin tragique de ce maquis et le drame des civils.
Le Vercors après le Vercors présente le bilan humain et matériel, la reconstruction des villages et de la vie quotidienne et enfin la construction de la mémoire, des commémorations aux lieux de souvenir.
The visit provides cross-references between the revived history of the Vercors resistance movement and the testimony of the founder of the museum. You will discover artefacts, arms, archive documents, original photographs and be able to use touch screens during the visit which is divided into three themes:
- The Vercors before the Vercors takes us back over the history of the Vercors at the turn of the century, the context of the years 1918-1942 both from a national and an international point of view.
- The resistance movement in the Vercors tells us about the organisation of this « refuge maquis » how its role developed, the creation of the « République du Vercors », the battles in the Vercors, the tragic end of the resistance movement and the dramatic events for the civil population.
- The Vercors after the Vercors reports on the human and material outcome, the reconstruction of villages and return to daily life and fi nally the raising of remembrance and the organisation of commemorations which are held in specific significant places.
